An Irlam company have invested considerably to keep them at the ‘cutting edge’ of technology and keeping ahead of the game with the latest technological wizardry.
General Utilities Northwest Ltd (GUN) based on Liverpool Road in Irlam are drainage contractors for the domestic, commercial and industrial markets. They provide sewer cleaning and close circuit television (CCTV) surveys as well as ground works, civil engineering, sewer connections and installation.
They have recently ‘kitted out’ a new Mercedes Sprinter van with the latest ‘state of the art’ technology including a ‘Rovion’ remote control camera for inspecting pipelines and sewers that is built to the latest exacting standards for working in explosion protected zones where dangerous gas ‘build up’ could cause potential problems.
The new van and equipment adding to the already impressive array of specialist vans, trucks, diggers and tankers ready to go, in the GUN fleet.
Also onboard the new van is an ‘Agilios’ pan and tilt push camera system suitable for inspections under harsh environmental conditions as well as storage for safety equipment, signs and road bollards. The rear doors of the van featuring special red safety LED lights for when the doors are open and work underway.
All the high end kit can be remote controlled from a control centre built into the Mercedes van complete with a bank of monitors to inspect and record the various cameras with room for two operators and an observer in the comfort of the vehicles cabin.
Owners John Morris and Steve Harley and their senior management team have more than 100 years of experience between them in the drainage and construction industries and are always looking to keep at the forefront of the drainage business.
